Important STATE Legislation

HB 1949 An Act relating to revenue and taxation; amending 68 O.S. 2001, Section 2357.22, as last amended by Section 1, Chapter 126, O.S.L. 2008 (68 O.S. Supp. 2008, Section 2357.22), which relates to tax credits for certain qualified property; modifying definitions; providing credits for qualified clean-burning motor vehicle fuel property; specifying amount of credits; modifying carryover period; and providing an effective date.: This bill was passed in May, 2009:

Note from an OKC912Project member regarding this bill:
The following is the current hot-topic issue regarding OK giving a 50% tax credit for the purchase of an electric vehicle. The buzz is being caused by people tagging golf carts as street legal and getting our tax dollars to subsidize recreational toys for well-off residents to golf, hunt, cruise around the lake house, etc. For the record, I know of no constitutional power that the government, state or federal, has to appropriate public tax dollars to skew what should otherwise be free market economics.

Representative Gary Banz and Senator Cliff Alderidge (both elected from the Choctaw/MWC area) BOTH voted for this ridiculous distortion of the law into legalized plunder. They will both be hearing from me.
I am also disappointed beyond belief that the bill was passed 90-4 in the House and 44-4 in the Senate. This is a disgrace. However, it is worth noting that Charles Key and Randy Brogden both voted against it.
