Action Alert: Call Senator Barrington
Several bills are in danger in the State Senate. Senator Barrington, chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee, has been unresponsive to OK2A’s attempts to contact him concerning these bills, which is worrisome. Please contact him and politely tell him you expect him to hear the following bills. Senator Barrington’s contact information is (405) 521-5563 or barrington@oksenate.gov.
HB1439 – extends the Castle Doctrine, giving law-abiding citizens greater freedom to defend themselves while in the workplace.
HB1647 - The open carry language is weak in this bill, but we will be unable to strengthen it if it doesn’t continue through the process. If heard in committee and passed to the full Senate, we can amend it to make it a stronger unlicensed open carry bill. (SB129 will be amended in the House Public Safety Committee. It will become a licensed open carry bill. So, amending HB1647 on the floor of the Senate is our best shot at getting an unlicensed open carry bill this session.)
HB1652 – Allows concealed carry permit holders to have their handgun locked in their cars while on Career Tech parking lots.

The following was sent by the Oklahoma Municipal League. The bill was on the agenda for today but has been moved to tomorrow. I have checked but there's no guarantee it will be heard tomorrow. I'm even thinking that the pressure from the unions was enough to keep them from hearing it on the floor in the Senate. Please call your senator and make sure it gets a hearing on the floor and your senator will vote for it!
